What happened to Jem and Scout on the way home from the pageant? Who saved Jem and Scout? Who killed Bob Ewell? Why did Heck Tate insist that Bob Ewell fell on his own knife?

When Jem and Scout were coming back from the pageant, it was completely dark when they came. Jem and Scout were hearing noises when they were coming back from the pageant. They just think it was Cecil. They thought that Cecil was trying to scare them. Jem and Scout get hurt from someone that they really aren’t sure of whom it is. Jem is really hurt and he is only unconscious, not dead. Dr. Reynolds tells Scout that Jem has a broken arm and a bump in his head. He said that Jem was going to be alright so that Scout wouldn’t get that worried. The man, who saved Jem, was a guy who Scout didn’t recognize. Then Scout saw that the man was Boo Radley. Bob Ewell was lying under a tree. He was dead and he had a knife stuck in his ribs. Atticus and Heck Tate were then arguing because Atticus thinks that Jem stabbed Bob Ewell. Heck Tate tells him that it wasn’t Jem. He fell on the knife. But, he knows that Boo Radley was the person who stabbed Bob Ewell with a knife.
After the pageant, Jem and Scout started walking back to there house. Then Scout remembered that Scout had forgotten her shoes at the school. But when they were back at the school, the lights were off and the door was locked. Jem then told Scout that she could get them back from the janitor the next day. When they were heading back for their house again, all of a sudden, they were attacked. A few minutes later, Jem was unconsious. Later they found out that Bob Ewell was trying to kill them to get back at what Atticus did. But when Mr. Ewell was found, he had a knife right under his rib cage, and was dead. This was at the very, very, end of the book.
Jem and Scout were walking back home after the pageant. It was pitch dark, nothing could be seen, but things could be heard. As they were walking, they heard footsteps, following them. They though it was just Cecil, so they were not scared. They did not know what awaited for them.. for just as theu kept on walking, they are attacked by someone who they are not sure who it is. A few minutes later, Jem is on the floor unconsious. Boo Radley picks him up and takes him home, Scout know the attacker is on the floor, perhaps dead.
After the pageant, Scout and Jem headed back home. However, it was very dark and they could hear that someone was following them. They passed under the huge tree, when the mysterious person attacked them. Scout found that the culprit was Bob Ewell, who had a knife in his rib, which had killed him. Boo Radley took the kids back home. It does not state that Boo had killed Bob, but it is most likely that he did. Mr. Tate insists that he fell on his own to cover up for Boo and Jem.
I disagree with nicole when she said that Heck tate knew that Boo Radley killed Bob. I think he insisted that it was an a suicide because he was simply lazy and did not want to go deep into the case. He was a lazy officer who had plenty of experience but simply did not want to use it. After all, Maycomb is a small town and nothing ever happens there. So, what Heck wanted to do is make as little of a fuss about Bob Ewell's death as possible. That is my opinion and why I disagree with Nicole.
On the way home from the pageant Jem and Scout were followed. They thought it was Cecil that was following them, but it was actually Bob Ewell. He grabbed them and tried to kill them. He even broke Jem's arm. I am not sure who killed Bob Ewell. I always thought that Heck Tate was right and Bob really fell on his own knife, but everyone else is saying that it was Arthur, Jem, or someone else. Now that I think about it I think it is possible that it was Arthur. I do not think it was Jem, though, because he was unconscious and had a broken arm. If this is so, I think Heck Tate insisted that Bob Ewell fell on his own knife because it would cause trouble for Boo (or possibly Jem because Atticus believes it was him) if he was taken to trial.
Jem and Scout were coming from the pageant and it was really dark. They heard something following them so they ran. They saw that Bob Ewell was following them and tried to attack them. Suddenly, Bob was dead. The person who killed Bob was Boo that had come to help the kids. Heck Tate insisted that Bob fell on his knife to cover up for Boo.
Andy, I disagree with you because Boo Radley did kill Bob, and Heck Tate did decided to cover up for Boo so that no more rumors were made up about him.
I disagree with Andy because Heck Tate did know that Boo killed Bob. He wasn't lazy about the situation. He just wanted it to be a secret so Boo is covered up.
