Boo Radley is over six feet tall, has rotten yellow teeth, popping eyes, and eats raw squirrels and cats. Every time something happens in the neighborhood, Boo gets blamed. Arthur’s family preferred to keep him inside home instead of going to school. After fifteen years Boo had been living at home, he supposly stabbed his father in the leg with a pair of scissors. Boo Radley had been told to be in the house all the time and not attend to schools. After Mr. Radley’s death, Nathan (his older brother) continued to watch over Boo and take care of him. It is easy to say rumors about Boo Radley. One of the rumors is that Boo Radley comes out his house at nights and appears at people’s windows. Many children try to get him out of his house, but it doesn’t happen. Boo Radley is a really mysterious guy to Jem, Scout and Dill.

Boo Radley probably doesn't want to come out of his house that often because everyone dislikes Boo. Everyone thinks that Boo has a very scary physical appareance, and think that he is insane. After being accused of stabbing his father in the leg with scissors, I too wouldn't want to come out of my house. But Arthur may still be a very kind and generuos man, since he only comes out to help children.

I think he does not come out of the house because he is afraid. Everybody is always saying bad staff and rumors about Boo Radley. But every time a child needs help he always is there to help. I think that Boo needs help and someone that loves him too but everybody is scared at him.

I agree with everyone that commented before me. First, Boo Radley was not allowed to come out of his house because he made the wrong choice once in his life (when he joined the gang). Later, strange legends about him started going around the town, resulting in him becoming a feared person. If he did come out, people would run away or try to shoot him. When the children tried to make him come out he did not, because he could have scared them. So there are two reasons to him not coming out of his house.

I think that Arthur (Boo) Radley is a very good person, and that is why he is always trying to help the children. But when it comes to his appearance he is definitely not up to going outside. I think that people will make fun of him, and he definitely does not want to be humiliated. I also think that he always stays inside because when he was a child his parents did not treat him very well. He used to be a normal guy, but now he is just embarrassed of himself.

When Mr. Radley was alive, he took care of him. After he was dead, Nathan Radley, Boo’s older brother got the task to take care of him. However, I do not think they took care of him. I think they wanted to avoid the possibility that rumors would spread about them. Boo may not come out from the house because Nathan Radley looks after him but I think that Boo doesn’t come out from the house because he is scared of the world. He is a mysterious being, and he never had a chance to explicate the unrealistic rumors. Therefore in the town, there are always bad rumors about him. Because no one made clear that the rumors were whether true or false, they grew larger. There must have been a way for Boo to hear those rumors, and when he did, I think he was hurt.

I think that "Boo", also known as Arthur Radley does not come out of the house because, first of all, later in the book Jem realizes that maybe Boo does not want to come out because he just does not want to. Since Boo would want to stay inside of his house, he would not have any other reason to come out besides helping the children if they were in danger or needing help. There are also many rumors throughout Maycomb about Boo Radley so if anyone were to notice that he was out of his house, there would be more rumors, not to mention it would be pretty embarrising for him as well because people would be staring at him.
I now conlude this comment.

I disagree with Nicole in a way which is that Arthur would probably be accepted in the circle of society in some way if he were to leave the house. Since he doesn't, there is a big mistery surrounding him and his identity. Boo would then be able to get under people to get respect from them. But because he doesn't, come out of the house, he doesn't go out of it for precisly the reason that Nicole mentioned. Not that I believe that Arthur eats raw squirrels and cats, but the rumor says he does. Under these circumstances it is totally acceptable to stay inside the house. As a matter of fact, I probably wouldn't leave the house neither with these rumors. But Boo apparently wants to help out. So, he does it secretly with out anyone noticing but the people that he is helping.

Boo is well aware of the things that are said about him in Maycomb. He is afraid that he won't be accepted as a part of the town. The rumors about him are like barriers that separate him from the rest of the town. The only way that he can actually demonstrate himself to the town that he is a good person is by putting candy on the tree hole. It is not very affective however. In order to demonstrate himself properly to the town, he must actually do something like introduce himself and demonstrate that he never did the things he is thought to do. The only problem is fear. The fear of being rejected separates him from the town. That is my reasoning.

I agree with most of the people who already have posted. I think that Boo made a wrong decision and now, most of the people are afraid of him. He is afraid that he might not be accepted by everyone because all of the rumors that have been said. He might be said to be horrible, but he might be nice too because he helps the children

I agree what Andy said. He does not want to come out of his house to prevent from causing people to stereotype him, and also to avoid the rumors there is around the people. IF he had come out, it would be obvious that most people would be freaked out and think that he is a bad human being. This would cause too much problem. He knows that if he comes out, people will surely hurt his feelings and talk bad about him. Even if he wanted to come out of his house and explain the situation and his feelings, most of the citizens would not understand him.

Personally, if I was Boo, I would not come out of my home too. If Boo came out, he would be even MORE stereotyped. HE probably does not come out for his fear. He fears that if something bad happens, while he is outside, probably people will blame it on him. Boo only comes out when his help is needed (Jem & Scout being attacked) and according to the rumors, at night (for scaring people). I think that what Boo Radley did the last night of the book, was very brave. Yes, almost no one saw him, but he risked his own life to save Jem's.

Dill is used in the novel as a "connection" in between Jem and scout with Boo. Dill makes Scout and Jem even MORE interested in Boo Radley because he kept asking them about him. Dill is also used to give Boo Radley a "point" in the story. This is explained because when something happens in between Boo, Jem, and Scout, Dill is always there to emphasize the situation.

In my personal opinion Boo Radley just simply does not want to go out of his house. Sadly that is not the reality; Boo Radley maybe does not go out of his house because they keep him there. There is also a possibility that due to the rumors said about Boo, he doesn’t want to come out because he was ashamed. There are many, many rumors about Boo like: they say that Boo stabbed his father in the leg with a pair of scissors, that he eats raw cats and squirrels, and that Boo comes out of his house at night and appears at people’s windows.

Boo later in the story Boo starts having a "connection" with Jem and Scout, by many things like the Radley Tree. Through the Radley tree Boo leaves presents for Jem and Scout to take, this gives him a "friendship" with Jem and Scout. This "friendship" makes him care about Jem and Scout, thus helping them get out of trouble.
